03-10-11 - Crisis as Camden Kiwi quota hits all time low! | |
|
Camden CC has this year lost another of its antipodean cousins as Matt Thomas has decided to settle down in his native homeland.
Matt has been an integral part of Camdens success in recent years signing off in his final game with a century when only chasing 158 and was awarded the coveted Allan Malcom clubman of the year trophy for 2011 for his work on the new range of Camden kit. (Raha was robbed!) Our thanks to Matt for the past 7 years and we wish him well for the future back in New Zealand. |

The annual Camden CC Family Fun Day took place at Trinity Old Field in conditions that were best described by Mitchell Jr as "a lot of hot." This may explain the low turnout, but those who did show up enjoyed a barbecue and, eventually, a light-hearted 10-over match which saw Keith Vincent's Red Bull Rastas triumph over Moots' Castle Chargers. Despite KV's welcome return to run-scoring form and Ali Khan's hat-trick, the highlight was surely Charlie Wayne's three catches.
The yearly Camden Colts awards were not handed out due to a lack of games so far. These will be awarded at the Presidents game during cricket week, see above for details.
10-06-11 - President Incompetent!
A bit harsh but David Owen has asked me to inform everyone that due to a mis-print in the fixture card there has been some confusion over the VP reception, President's XI game and club 130th bbq.
They are all on Friday 29th July at Trinity Old Field.
10-06-11 - Khan single-handeldy embarrasses village cricket team and local sports reporter re-uses same headline!
Not so young upstart, Ali Khan, has his own 7 for to be proud off as he ripped through the Bluntisham batting order at the weekend, see it on the website here.
12-05-11 - Griggs single-handedly embarrasses village cricket team…see local press for details
Young upstart, Michael Griggs, has had a small mention for his cricketing success over the weekend somewhere in the Cambridge Evening News. Should you want a copy but the shops have run out, don't worry, i have several at home and will be happy to distribute them.
Alternatively see it on the website here.
19-04-11 - Camden joins bird watching group!
Camden CC has caught up with the digital age and joined social networking site Twitter.
A mystery Camdenite will be updating it regularly and im assured that it will have real-time score updates and general mud-slinging action, we are #CamdenCricket and you can join Twitter here

10-01-11 - Camden Kiwi quota under threat!
|
I have sad news to report today. After years of threats to leave Camden for sunnier climes, Richard Hadley has
finally left the club to spend the rest of his days with his wife in South Africa. During his recent leaving drinks at the Panton Arms Richard informed us that he and his wife are expecting their first child, (which is odd as she's been in South Africa for about 6 months now!), so i would like to take this oppotunity to wish him well for the future from everyone at the club. See you on the Camden tour of SA in 2012 mate! |

2010 REVIEW
Once again Camden CC had survived the economic deline of the rest of the world and 2010 was very much to be declared a successful year!
|
The pinnacle of the year was Camdens 1st XI claiming the Tucker 1 Premier title with 2 games to spare. Captain, Alex Mutucumarana, presided over the team for another year and his end of season speech at the annual awards/curry night was enjoyed by all. Congratulations to them. Once again the awards were given out for the players of the year and the clubman of the year, there were as follows

The 4th Annual Family fun day was again a success with bumper crowds and 4 13 a-side teams all competing for the prize of a firm handshake.
Not put off by England v Germany in the footy (well not after we went 3-1 down), we had the usual Curry by the Raha family, raffle prizes kindly donated and the BBQ, which every year seems to feed all of you without a single death! After our biggest ever colts year, some 40 odd memebers, 3 full teams every week and the U11s winning their league, the awards for players of the year were given out. They were...

David Owen taking over presidency and overseeing the continued growth of the club, Margaret Batley stepping down as colts co-ordinator after many successful years and the original 3rd XI ringer, Richard Hadley, leaving the club to go and live out his life with his wife in South Africa (he'll be back!).
2009 REVIEW

04-09-09 Much Fun (and the annual Rustler joke by Dixon) had by all at the end of Season Curry Night The end of season curry night took place on Friday 4th September at the Curry Garden on Regent street. Some very casual end of season 'dinner' attire was on display from Gavin Ayliffe, and a luminous shirt from Alex Raha, as the captains made their speeches and players of the year awards were presented.

The 3rd Annual Camden CC Family Fun Day was held at Emmanuel College Sports ground on the 12th July.
Camden's Blue Riband event gave Juniors from the age of 9 the chance to play with the first XI opening bowler. A moment proved none more so then when the U12s Most Improved player of the year, Sam Walsh, strode out to to bat with Camdens First XI captain Alex Mutucumarana...and lasted long than him at the crease! A bumper BBQ, busy bouncy castle and a well supported raffle made it a very successful day for the club. Our thanks to everyone who attended and supported the club, especially those who brought puddings, salads and raffle prizes. |

Big thank you's also to Match Ball sponsors Mackays Engineering and Mi Broadcast, and to Mark Robinson for letting us use the Emmanuel ground. Aswell as our very own committee who make everything happen, Martin Baker for sorting out the money, David Mitchell for the use of his Tannoy system and BBQ, Kevin O'Grady for not poisoning everyone on the BBQ, Margaret Batley for arranging the colts attendance and especially our Social Secretary Steve Robinson, who can feel very proud that Camdens Family Fun Day continues to grow into the highlight of the year. |
2008 REVIEW

13th July saw the second annual Camden Family fun day at Fitzwilliam College cricket ground, some obvious improvements were made from its inaugural
year and a successful club member turnout, some favourable weather and the success of the website designers
team made it a truely great day. Our thanks to everyone who played, brought food, cooked, supported and groundsmen Dave Norman.
