Welcome to Camden Cricket Club, the oldest cricket club in Cambridge. The Club was founded in 1881 and today boasts three Men’s Teams and a thriving Junior (Colts) Section. We are a lively and friendly Club that aims to make your experience of cricket a positive one.

Camden is progressing towards ECB “Club Mark” status. The Club is committed to providing a safe environment for all members, both Senior and Junior. We have adopted the ECB “Safe Hands Welfare of Young People in Cricket Policy” and comply with ECB guidelines regarding safety and health.

CHILD WELFARE POLICY

The welfare and safety of your child whilst in our care is our top priority. Camden Cricket Club has adopted, and implemented, the ECB Safe Hands – Welfare of Young People in Cricket Policy. The aim of that Policy is to ensure that your child plays cricket in a safe and positive environment. Camden is committed to promoting good practice and sound recruitment procedures to ensure the welfare of your child. Camden coaches are ECB- approved, CRB checked, fully insured and have signed the Club’s Code of Conduct for Coaches. Volunteer helpers are vetted and must comply with the rules laid down by the ECB. Our coaches and volunteers work in an open environment. Children are never left alone or in a private situation with any coach or volunteer.

Camden Cricket Club believes that all young people within cricket, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability or disability, have the right to be protected.

Camden coaches stress the importance of fairplay and good behaviour to the children in their care. Camden CC ensures that Junior Members are made aware of best practice and know how to manage welfare issues which may come to light Any welfare concerns will be reported in accordance with procedures laid down by the ECB.

A Code of Conduct is issued annually to Senior Members, Junior Memebrs and their Parents at the time of registration. The Code details the standards of behaviour required by players, parents, coaches and volunteer helpers alike.

COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS

Parents are issued with a Fixtures Booklet at the beginning of the season which contains telephone numbers of Camden Officials, including Coaches and Team Managers. Every Junior Team has a Team Manager who is responsible for contacting players and parents regarding match arrangements. Contact is made by phone or email. The Team Manager, at his or her discretion, may post a match report on the Camden website.

A President’s Newsletter is sent to all members at the beginning of the season.

The Colts Season ends with a fun filled Family Day where Senior and Junior Members and Family are invited to play cricket together. A great opportunity for young and old to get to know each other!

TRANSPORT POLICY

The Club expects that parents/carers are responsible for the safe delivery and collection of their children for matches and training. Parents are provided with a list of fixtures at the beginning of the season which allows them the opportunity to make appropriate arrangements. It is not the responsibility of the Coach or Team Manager to transport, or arrange to transport the children to and from the Club or match. If you wish to “lift share” you must make these arrangements yourselves.

We ask that parents inform the coach at the beginning of a training session/match if they are not themselves collecting their child. The coaches need to know who is responsible for collection and be given appropriate telephone numbers. In the case of an unexplained late collection of a child the coach will attempt to contact the parent/carer by phone. Thereafter, he/ she attempt to make contact with the next of kin, as specified on the Club Registration Form. As a final resort the Coach will contact Social Services . If a parent continually fails to collect a child on time, the Club will request that the junior player be suspended.

For Juniors playing Senior Cricket matches, it is the responsibility of parents to deliver and collect their children. If a Junior parent agrees that the child can travel with a Senior Member(s), written consent will requested.
