21-06-10 - U15 AWAY TO HAVERHILL
Haverhill 145 for 2, Camden 112 for 4 RESULT - HAVERHILL WIN
The longest day of the year and by far the longest trek for an away game!
On a track made for batting, the Haverhill team set about early bashing the ball around the park.
Some partnership breaking wickets (Dylan bowled and a run-out) only angered the oppo as their next
2 batsmen took the score to 145 at the end of their 20 over. Noteable bowling mentions should go to
Pryan for a good tight spell of 16 runs off his 4 overs and Hector Wheatley having the difficult job
of bowling at the end of the innings, only going for 20 off his 2 overs.
Put bluntly, James Freeman finally did what he can do and hung around for a very good 39. Hugo
Batley manfully took one in the un-mentionables and was retired hurt. Then Dylan came in, did what he does
and got 41 and we still came up 25 odd runs short.
A decent score that had we have been batting first we'd have been happy with. One of the better
teams in the league we can be proud to have got so close.

18-06-10 - U11 HOME TO HISTON
Histon 203 for 8, Camden 235 for 4 RESULT - CAMDEN WIN
The U11s first home game for a while brought up the first of a double header against Histon U11.
Callum Thornton impressed again taking for 4 wickets for 3 runs in a devastating 3 over spell.
Good batting then restricted the opposition to only getting four of us out. Greg Mellor being
the pick of the Camden Batters.
Next up.....oh its Histon again on Monday!

17-06-10 - U13 AWAY TO BURWELL
Burwell ? FOR ?, CAMDEN ? FOR ? RESULT - BURWELL WIN
Without having the figures to hand i can tell you that despite being very maturely (is that a word?)
captained by Luke Fowles on a good pitch on a hot sunny day in Burwell, Camden were outplayed by
a good Burwell team.
Chasing 120 ish we came up 20 runs short. However would could have been a lot worse actually turned out
to be a fairly close game.

14-06-10 - U15 AWAY TO ABINGTON
Abington 113 ALL OUT, CAMDEN 113 FOR 8 RESULT - MATCH DRAWN
THRILLER IN THE CHILLER!
Once again we made the trek out to Abington, once again they were very hospitable. and once again it was ruddy freezing.
Captain Batley lost the toss and was asked to field on a damp green wicket.
Abington looked good value for money as their batsmen came and went playing shots all round the ground, but ultimatley it was our
fielding that kept the score down to something very chaseable. Five catches in all it was Ali Austins that stands out. When it would
have been very easy to just set about chasing a ball that had gone over his head he sprinted towards the boundary and thrust out his hands
to catch a ball with everyone else expecting just to offer their kind words of 'good effort' and 'unlucky Ali'. Other notables include a
one-handed catch from stand in keep Gwyllam Willams and a spell from Dylan that was, for want of a better word, unplayable.
After a belly full of Abingtons finest flap jacks and doritos James and Hugo went about chasing....
Abingtons opening pair of bowlers were possibly the best we'll play against all year, so the loss of just 2 wickets in their opening
6 overs was not such a bad result. Chris Tapping appeared to be the linch pin of the innings as the run rate crept up. If he was to
stay in we had a real chance of getting 114. Well supported by Ali Austin for a partnership of around 20, it was Ali then Chris who
got out playing shots that were required to give us a shot at winning.
With the innings fading away and the run-rate above 10 from the last 4 it was Dylan who decided that this game was there to be won. His
innings of 32 off 18 balls was devastating and included a 6 from a no-ball and some brutal 4s at appropriate times. Inputs from
Alex Wilson and Oli Purnell at the end meant we needed 14 off the final over then 6 off 2 balls. A samshed straight drive from
Dylan later it was 2 from the final ball to win. Dylan bunts it into the on-side and Oli runs....he turns for the second and finds
Dylan down the far end thinking we'd done enough and therefore not running. Finally it ends up with Oli and Dylan down the same
end, the ball down the other and the game drawn.
A fair result from a pleasant evening, now back in the car and get that heating on!

01-06-10 - U15 AWAY TO MILTON
RESULT - COTTENHAM FAILED TO GET A TEAM TOGETHER - CAMDEN WIN
25-05-10 - U11 AWAY TO FULBOURN
Camden 285/? wkts, Fulbourn 184/? wkts RESULT - CAMDEN WIN
CALLUM HAT-TRICK INSPIRES SEASON DEFINING GAME
In brief theres was a big gulf in quality between these 2 U11 teams.
Very well skippered by the age defying Ali Austin, Camden batted first and batted very well. After Fulbourns front line, very talented
bowler had bowled his 2 overs very little else troubled our confident batters. Greg, William, Noah and Henry the first names that
come to mind, taking good quick singles and hitting the bad balls hard. The 285 Camden had reached was a very good target.
Camden strolled out with (and showed) all the basic skills, such as backing-up, walkin in and bowling straight, that Fulbourn had struggled
with. Our enthusiasm and team spirit was the key factor in everything we did and it showed no more so that when Callum bowled his first
over of 6 balls, 4 wickets and 1 run. Including a hat-trick, every wicket he took he was surrounded by the whole team which just added
to the enthusiasm in the field.
A very good result and performance that should be a catalyst for the rest of the season

24-05-10 - U15 AWAY TO THRIPLOW & WHITTLESFORD
Thriplow & Whittlesford 107 ALL OUT, Camden 87 for 8 RESULT - THRIPLOW & WHITTLESFORD WIN
CRICKET IS THE WINNER....OH, AND THRIPLOW & WHITTLESFORD
At the end of a very warm day a very enjoyable time was had by all as a Camden U15 took a trip out to Whittlesford.
Hugo Batley won the toss and choose to bat, after 10 over Thriplow and Whittlesford were on 69 and the decision looked like the
wrong one.
Some good fielding and straight consistent bowling kept a good Thriplow team down to a very gettable 107. Special mentions for Benito
Castiglione's opening spell of swing bowling (1 for 13 off 3), Pryan Davda's 3 bowled wickets (3 for 10 off 4) and James Freeman with 2
fine catches at cover.
Camden's innings started solidly amidst some friendly banter from the oppo who apparently all go to the same school as plenty of ours!
The difference between the two teams was cleary the bowling attacks as Thriplow & Whittlesford began regulary taking wickets
not allowing Camden any momentum. However the stand out perfomance of the game came from Camdens captain, Hugo Batley. Carrying
his wicket, and the teams hopes, as he batted excellently for 43 not out.
As time and the light was against us it would have been a very good effort to reach the 108 needed. Falling 21 short we can be
very proud to have got so close against a good team.
Plenty of positives from a very enjoyable evening.

followed by inspired captaincy from Will Dawson, opening the attack with Patrick Maund and
reducing Camden to 6 for 5 from which there was no way back despite a brave late recovery
effort from Fowles.

FANTASTIC FOWLES LEADS FROM FRONT IN CLASSIC CAMDEN SQUEEZE
On an overcast Friday evening at Luard Road, the Camden Under 13 Colts opened their 2010 season with a convincing victory over a
talented yet wayward Milton side.
In his first game as Captain, Luke Fowles duly lost the toss and Camden were inserted onto a classic early- May lifeless Luard
Road pitch. Slowness and lowness made runs difficult to come by. Rakesh Ladva was the pick of the Milton bowlers (4-0-17-3) and
along with Jordan Haer quickly reduced the home side to 11 for 4.
However Milton then found resistance in the form of Alex Wilson who was then joined by Luke to begin rebuilding the innings.
The pair added 23 runs and with extras mounting, took the score to 49.
Following an upheld LBW appeal, Wilson departed for a turgid yet priceless 7 runs. Martha Franklin joined his skipper to then
forge a match-winning partnership. The pair added 42 runs for the 7th wicket and were ably supported by a bulging extras column
(48 in all!). Fowles batted with remarkable composure and Franklin provided the necessary support to propel the Colts to a very
respectable 91.
Benito Castiglione and Harvey Hughes were entrusted with opening the bowling and after 7 runs from the first over, both bowlers
began to turn up the heat. Hughes showed fantastic control that even his namesake (The Analyst) would’ve got excited about. Benito
then made use of darkening skies to unleash some classic away-swing which eventually paid off, accounting for Alsop. The middle
overs were where the game was truly won. Alex Wilson joined the Skipper in applying a classic squeeze, which saw the former remove
the dangerous Raj Ladva for 14. Further tight spells from Ollie Hastings (2-0-7-0) and Sam Walsh (2-0-6-1) saw Milton require
nearly a run a ball for the last 10 overs.
It was fitting that Fowles and Hughes returned to finish off the innings with further tight bowling. The skipper finished
wicket-less, but still with mighty impressive figures of 4-1-7-0 to pick up a deserved Man of the Match award for a classic
all round match-winning performance in front of an expectant parental crowd.
The winning habit has begun for the season in the best possible way, and long may it continue....
